LEARNING AND COMMUNICATION HUB

This project is to study the serious issues of homelessness in Brisbane. It aims to support homeless youth who are willing to work and enter society to improve their living standard.

design Concept

In summarizing the research information, it was found that youth homelessness feels lost in society and lacks support from family and friends. This project is going to provide a consultation and mentally supporting center by social workers. It also providing a furniture manufactory workshop center for young people to learn how to produce furniture because furniture is one of the basic living needs.
This project is not aiming to provide residential space for the homeless, but a learning and communication hub that feels like home which included security, belonging, identity, privacy, happiness, and comfort. Also, Sustainable design strategies can support the homeless on basic needs, mental health, and practice skills.

Spatial arrangement

It is separated into two zonings, which are instant supporting area including consultation supporting center and temporary residential for urgent use, and long term supporting area including learning and communication center for homeless and furniture shop with manufactory workshop for both visitor and homeless.
